Emma Higham, Rewards Team Manager
‘I joined Swinton 11 years ago as a Payroll Advisor. Since then, I’ve taken advantage of the many training and development opportunities, and today I’m a Rewards Team Manager. It’s hard work, and sometimes quite complex, but it’s incredibly rewarding. I came here looking for a change in career direction – and it was the best decision I’ve made.
I particularly love the positive working environment in the office. I work with a lovely team, I feel well looked after and the opportunities to grow and progress are endless. I’d say that to fit in, you need to be dedicated, confident, committed and patient.
It’s a great company to work for – but you do have to work hard, take in everything you learn, and most of all – enjoy it! Outside of work, I’m a real family person – I love camping and spending time with friends – so the work/life balance is perfect. It really is real progress for real people.’

‘I came to Swinton having just travelled around Australia and New Zealand. I guess the first thing that attracted me was the security that comes from being part of a big and established company that seemed to me to be really be going places. I still think that, but soon found the sheer variety of work we do here another bonus — interesting work that’s always challenging.
There are 13 people in my team and — as there’s more and more new software being introduced all the time. Everyone’s encouraged to build on their knowledge and skills, with particular encouragement to attend courses and gain relevant qualifications. There’s plenty of support for career development too. The next step is always there to see, which I like.
The environment here and the people you’ll find make this a great place to be. I couldn’t recommend it more, to be honest.’
