Call Centre Staff Profiles
Karen, Team Leader
‘It was the rewards that first made me consider a career at Swinton. Unlike other places I’d worked, they’re based on individual, not team, performance. So the bonuses do reflect how well you’re doing and the effort you put in. I also like the fact that, as a local unit, we’re actively involved in the decision making process — rather than decisions just coming from the top. It actually makes you feel like you’ve a stake in the business.
The people in my team are all very sales driven, with great customer service skills. They’re from a wide range of backgrounds too, with some having lots of selling experience, and some with a little, but we all help each other out. As for the skills needed to do my particular job, I’d say that, above all, you have to be a good coach and motivator.
The call centre is expanding all the time, so it’s the ideal environment for someone looking for lots of opportunities for career development — not only here, but right across the business. With proper training right from the start, and plenty of support, I’d definitely recommend coming here.’
Mike, Outbound Credit Control Agent
‘There’s no denying Swinton is a well-known name, and it was the opportunities that this can bring that attracted me to the company. I’ve now been here three and a half years, and I’ve never worked in a place where there’s so much support, especially when it comes to developing your career. I’ve done various roles, but it’s not just about moving up — everyone has the chance to experience something different.
My job is all about helping customers whose direct debits have lapsed, and making sure we get their cover back — which is the most rewarding part. You could say it’s customer service, but with bonuses. It’s the kind of role suited to good listeners with a positive, upbeat approach and the ability to think on their feet. And we’ve people from all walks of life here, so you don’t necessarily need telesales experience.
We’re all well rewarded for our hard work, not just with opportunities to get on, but with flexible bonuses that mean there’s something for everyone.’
